Ship Log 2: Launch

Captain’s Duty Log:  The launch of the USS Alaster on her first flight was a success. After being checked thoroughly for any possible problems, Chief of Engineering Anthony Freed gave his approval for flight.  I then recieved an all systems go from Communications and Helms which allowed us to depart from our construction berth to our more permanent docking space, Bay 21 on the International Space Station Tranquility Base in Lunar Orbit.  Once communications chief PO1 Timmons cleared us from the tower we were able depart from the space dock under the guidance of Helmsman Kelly.  After clear of the space berth we used impulse engines at full 9.2 capacity and arrived, with a seat grabbing, coffee spilling, sudden stop, at at Tranquility Base. After following all the necessary procedures, we successfully docked the USS Alaster to receive the supplies needed to complete our mission to retrieve the Icarus probe in the Carara System. That mission is to be started on Friday, June 20th, 2014.  On Monday, I plan to take the ship to Jupiter’s Orbit to investigate the origin site of the Enochian transmission we received on Thursday.

Several systems checks were run before the launch. All systems are functioning normally. Contact was made with CAPT Harvey while we were en route, and again when we finalized docking procedures. All went as it should.

Before piloting the ship systems checks had to be done in order for a safe flight. The flight systems were completely functional. We detached ourselves from the birth slowly using the Retro firing rockets to reach minimum safe distance. Stopping the ship was a challenge. Docking was a challenge but I am sure that we will be able to dock easier next time.
